Division: Student Engagement and Services
Immediate Supervisor’s Title: Director of Student Engagement and Services
Positions Supervised: Career Services and Placement Manager
Term of Position: 12 Months
Minimum Requirements: Master’s Degree from an accredited institution of higher learning in a related field required (school guidance, community, or vocational counseling); 2 years working in an educational, mental health, penal, rehab, or clinical environment required; experience with working with computer software required; experience with developing programs and workshops required; experience with data collection and assessment of programs preferred; experience in a clinical setting preferred; strong interpersonal, writing, and oral communication skills required.
Position Description: Provides counseling services to residential and commuter students and develops, implements, and monitors programs related to the Counseling-Career Services and Placement Center. Serves as the point of contact for students seeking disability support services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Counsels and advises current and potential students on an individual or group basis when appropriate regarding personal issues, scholastic performance, absences, study habits, etc.
- Supervises and coordinates programs and services of the Career Services and Placement Manager
- Provides personal, psychological, and stress management counseling to students and make referrals to appropriate resources
- Assists with campus retention efforts
- Presents appropriate workshops for student body
- Assists with the preparation of institutional reports, administration/evaluation of surveys, and other institutional research activities
- Serves on college/campus committees as assigned
- Obtains professional updates by attending appropriate conferences, workshops, and seminars
- Assists with special activities of the division
- Assists in the planning, coordination and implementation of pre‐enrollment activities for prospective students such as Orientation, meetings with parents, etc.
- Assists with the supervision of student workers
- Assists with the supervision of student activities
- Serves as a resource and provide responses to student life crisis
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Engagement and Services
